Dearest Chi-Chi,
When you open this card, I'm already visiting your grandparents in Shanghai.
I congratulate you on graduating today, and starting this new journey.
Today, the road to success has spread beneath your feet.
This is a long road. But also one filled with promise.
If there are any obstacles in the future to prevent you from reaching your goals;
Block you from succeeding—
It will not be in the workplace or competition from others—but only yourself.
A person’s greatest enemy is thyself.
If you conquer yourself or your own weaknesses, then all else can be conquered.
We believe you will value your opportunities.
And also work very hard to accomplish great things.
Thus, from this day forth, take a firm first step.
I still remember a Chinese proverb you place near your nightstand.
On it says: "Only the determined, can succeed."
These words have helped me overcome countless hardships in my life. .
I hope you can remember these words.
And spend your whole life doing so.
We congratulate you on graduating from college.
Love,
Dad and Mom
